The Wattlebird, the Crow and the Cuckoo

The Wattlebird, the Crow and the Cuckoo

Walking to church today, I saw a wattlebird – an Australian bird species – taking on a much larger crow; it is such a common scene for those living in Perth, Australia. This usually occurs because the wattlebird has a nest there, and a crow’s presence either endangers the nest as it may decide to prey on the wattlebird’s chicks and eggs, or deprive the wattlebird’s territory of its food supply. It is a courageous sight to see the wattlebird, armed with only its claws and a beak not quite suited to assault, to harass a much larger crow out of its territory, as the crow could have easily turn its attacker into food. Yet the wattlebird led me to ponder, when even a small bird knows the need to defend its home with valour against a much more intimidating trespasser, why are Hong Kongers so meek and mild when their home is under full scale chinese incursions?

I ask the leftards of Hong Kong, will you berate the wattlebirds for defending their homes, citing that the crows have just as much right to feed and move around as the former? Will the leftards condemn the wattlebird as xenophobia in chasing out the crow from its territory? Will the leftards accuse the wattlebird for prejudice, that it would attack any crow it sees, even if the latter was just flying past? Would the leftards demand that the wattlebirds show tolerance towards the crows, that even if the latter preys upon the former’s eggs and chicks, the wattlebird should just let it be? Yet, these are exactly the accusations and demands the leftards ask of Hong Kongers, who are being preyed upon by people from china!

Guo Wen Gui, the chinese defector involved in a Voices of America scandal, where his livecast interview with the purpose of “spilling the beans” on the chinese regime was supposedly cut short by covert chinese agents working in VoA, confirmed what Hong Kong localists had been saying since 2012: china wants to commit cultural genocide and ethnic cleansing in Hong Kong, and to do that without bloodshed, they gave millions of chinese denizens one-way visas to Hong Kong, with the sole purpose of diluting the Hong Konger to chinese ratio as they had done in Tibet and East Turkestan (known globally as Xinjiang). Within those one-way visa holders are secret service agents, whose tasks are to spy and keep tabs on anti-china Hong Kongers, abduct designated targets to be sent back to china for persecution, and to keep the chinese residents in Hong Kong obedient to beijing. Guo ridiculed Hong Kongers for being soft, that we could not comprehend that the alterations being made to our society, our languages, our cultures, our politics and our very livelihoods by china, were designed to erase Hong Kongers from existence and turn Hong Kong into a mere mega shopping complex for china’s upper echelon.

This reminds me of another bird, the common cuckoo. A cuckoo does not make its own nest, it does not incubate its own chicks, instead they lay their eggs in other birds’ nest and have the host parent feed and raise the cuckoo chick. The hatched cuckoo chick would quickly kick out the victim’s eggs and chicks, if its mother had not eaten them already, and the hapless victim is conned into raising another bird’s children. Is that not what we Hong Kongers have been victim of?  Why can’t we see the chinese for the cuckoo they are? Heck! Even the birds species commonly preyed upon by the cuckoo have learnt to discriminate against cuckoo eggs and would get rid of it before it hatches!

For if even a bird knows common sense of survival, all the more should we!
