More confidential documents have been leaked on 23 March. This is the second batch of documents published leaking more information of the CIA.
Compared to the over 8700 CIA documents titled “Year Zero” in the first batch of leaked documents, the second collection is titled “Dark Matter”, with much less documents. “Dark Matter” primarily encompassed the malware softwares and hacking technologies that are developed by the Embedded Development Branch of the CIA targeting products of Apple.
For instance, Sonic Screwdriver is a hacking program that, alongside a USB drive that is connected to a computer and contains malicious programs, attacks a computer through a medium even when the device is protected by Firmware passwords during the startup of a Mac hard disk.
Since the first batch of leaked documents, Apple has told the public that their products have no safety loopholes after technological corrections. With the recent document leaks, how many Apple customers would be affected and how would Apple respond? These questions would certainly remain in the minds of many supporters of Apple.
